5 Ways to Help Ease Back Into a Fitness Routine After Giving Birth
Getting back into shape after having my daughter was low on my list of priorities but I knew how important it was to remain active regularly. It was challenging getting back into a fitness routine after birth because I had no time, I was mentally drained and I had to let my body recover. I recently started a regular fitness routine and wanted to share five ways to ease back into a fitness routine after birth but most of these tips can apply to anyone. My routine is simple and consists of walking, light weight training and cardio fitness classes. Before starting anything make sure you are cleared from your healthcare provider to begin a fitness routine.
Go Slow :
Whether you were a professional runner or someone who seldom walked, it is important to start slowly and gradually work your way to your fitness goal.
Get the right gear:
Before starting it’s important to have the right gear for what you will be doing. My favorite item right now is a pair of Skechers GOwalk Joy shoes .These shoes are breathable, lightweight, and super comfortable. I wear them almost daily from walking with my family to going to the grocery store to going to fitness classes.
Grab a friend:
Any activity is always best when done with a friend. Grab a friend or your partner to help you get motivated
Involve your baby whenever possible:
If feasible and safe try to incorporate your baby into your fitness routine. Example: Take your baby along on a walk or hike.
Be easy on yourself:
Be easy on yourself and don’t be discouraged. Pregnancy and giving birth is a very dramatic event on your body and your body needs time to heal. Never push yourself to the point that you may harm yourself.
